HOMEBUYER EDUCATION SEMINAR...
-
A
free home buying seminar to assist residents who are
interested in purchasing a home is being held at the
Centerville School Commons on Wednesday, May 31st from
7:00-8:30 p.m. Anyone interested in owning a home is invited
to attend.
The
course is being offered as a joint venture between the
Centerville Affordable Housing taskforce and the Sioux
Empire Housing Partnership (SEHP). SEHP is a nonprofit
organization that is focused on enhancing affordable housing
opportunities and homeownership education in Sioux Falls and
the surrounding areas.
We are
very pleased to partner with the Sioux Empire Housing
Partnership to take a lead in the community to help more
local residents become successful homeowners, said
Centerville Mayor Valarie Fischer. The complexity of the
home buying process should not be a barrier to individuals
and families. Education is the first step, and maybe the
most important step, that a family can take to achieve the
dream of homeownership.
Buying
a home can be a difficult and stressful process. SEHP
provides an education program to create more prepared and
confident homebuyers. Learn how to determine if you are
ready to purchase, how to become budget and credit ready,
and what assistance programs are available to make it more
attainable.
Representatives will also be available to assist individuals
interested in learning if they pre-qualify for various
assistance programs. Participants should bring the following
information to the seminar:
-
Amount of annual income
-
Annual child support received
-
Annual alimony received
-
Annual daycare costs
-
Monthly payment amounts for car loans, credit cards,
student loans and any other debt
-
Amount of non-wage income including food stamp amount,
TANF amount, Social Security income and any state public
assistance received
All
information will remain confidential. Owning a home is a
wonderful accomplishment as well as a major financial
benefit. With low interest rates and a number of down
payment programs available, owning a home has become an
attainable goal for most people, and homebuyer education is
the first step toward achieving that goal.
