Centerville Journal - 1/31/06
by Amy L. Plucker

Centerville School District is considering implementing a Pre-School for 4 year-olds beginning the 2006-2007 school year. Please call the school at 605-563-2291 by Feb. 10, 2006 if you are interested in your child attending. Final decisions have not yet been made, but the Centerville Board of Education is considering the following:

   1. 4 days per week - would consider 5 days second semester.
   2. Classroom time would be 8:20-11:30 a.m.
   3. Bus service would be available with regular morning route, but not at
       the 11:30 dismissal time.
   4. No charge for any child, whether they live in or out of the school
       district.
   5. Class would have a 1/2 time teacher and a 1/2 time assistant and any
special services that would be needed. The 1/2 time teacher would be funded
from the Special Education fund and the assistant would be funded from REAP
       grant money.
   6. Students would need to be 4 years old by September 1st. If enrollment
was low, might consider extending the Sept. 1st deadline.
